Duct Repair or Replacement?

What are the Benefits?

1. Efficiency: Leaky or improperly sealed ducts can reduce heating and cooling system efficiency making your HVAC system work harder than it has to. Older homes tend to have poor design when it comes to duct work causing air flow concerns. Properly sealing and insulating ducts increases efficiency, lower your energy bills, and the investment can often pay for itself in energy savings.

2. Indoor Air Quality Particles from insulation, outdoor and indoor allergens, mold and dust can enter your duct system, aggravating asthma and allergy problems. Sealing ducts can help improve indoor air quality by reducing the risk of pollutants entering ducts and circulating through your home. There are many indoor air quality products available to homeowners to help with this.

3. Home Comfort Often we hear clients concerned about how one room maintains all the heat or air, that one room may feel stuffy or uncomfortable. Ducts are used to distribute conditioned air throughout your house. But in typical houses, the EPA says that about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts.

The consequences of poorly designed or malfunctioning duct work is higher utility bills and difficulty keeping the house comfortable, no matter how the thermostat is set. Some of the most common issues we see with duct work are:

  1. Leaky, torn or disconnected duct work
  2. Poorly sealed registers and grills
  3. Leaks at furnace and filter slots
  4. Kinks in flexible duct work restricting air flow
